Best Concrete Curbing Hand Tools

Like most products, there is good and bad, expensive or cheap, and although there is a time for cheap and nasty products there is always satisfaction in buying quality products that are made to last the time.

Here are are few of the best concrete curbing hand tools, and some of the most popular, that I could find online.

Looking After Your Concrete Curbing Hand Tools

Looking after your gear is important if you want to extend the longevity of your tools.

By doing this we can maximise the usage vs the cost of the tool, This may sound silly for small items, but trust me when I say there is nothing more annoying than a chipped or dented trowel when your trying to get that perfect trowel fining on your concrete.

I will finish this blog with a few pointers to help you and your concrete tools last longer and get better finishes on your concrete.

Looking after your concrete gear

  • Always clean excess concrete off your gear after every job – Concrete can build up very quickly on your concrete tools and before you know it, you will be getting the old hammer and chisel out to clean them up again. A wash with water and a scrubbing brush works well, or even better you can pressure blast them clean.
  • Do not use trowels as a scraping tool – Once a trowel is worn in and the edges are nice and smoothed, they can chip very easily which will cause lines to show in your troweling. Chipping happins when you hit something with the edge of your trowel, or if you run over something hard enough that it indents the edge, like a sharp stone or a nail head/end
  • Foam mats like the ones in kneeler boards don’t like getting wet, where possible use a dry or wet cloth and wipe clean rather than soaking with a hose, or dunking in a barrow of water.
  • Always try to store your equipment nicely and free from strong UV rays. UV rays from the sun can perish plastics and other materials.

  1. It’s good that you mentioned how important it is to do maintenance on concrete curbing tools if you want to properly maximize their usage and extend their longevity. I imagine if your grandma uses a wheelchair to move due to mobility issues, it would be best to get concrete kerbing done to help her move better. I’ll keep this in mind if I ever need to get kerbing done for my home in the future.
